When Sheriff Mark Butler took office in 2020 it became his initiative to give a proper burial and resting place to all the unclaimed bodies of Warren County that were inherited when he took office and to any others that have occurred over the last 3 years. As of May 2023, the sheriff’s office has 19 unclaimed cremains of Warren County residents. We were able to reunite 1 of the individuals with a loved one. Two of the individuals were entitled to a military funeral service and interment. They were laid to rest on May 12, 2023, at Culpeper National Cemetery. This left the sheriff’s office with 16 cremains that still needed to be laid to rest. The sheriff’s office will be conducting a funeral service May 26, 2023, at 1pm located at Prospect Hill Cemetery. This will be open to the public. The following people will be buried at this service:
